A Moment in Breath

Sinking deeper into the folds of linen

The the warmth of the cloth has thinned

Pulling at fibers that unravel

Surrendering to all we have sinned

My heart slows to the rhythm of my breath

This moment belongs in no other time

I whisper to hear the sound of my words

Then release them to the care of Divine

I am not but the words of my thoughts

So think what I may to be kind

Gently I speak so truth will reveal

Gently put ease to my mind

The gift of my breath rest assures me

Its sound even, steady and strong

The past fades with the stillness of darkness

It is in this moment to which I belong
